Anumahaprabhu Mandir, Manipur Rajkunja
Perched on the western bank of the river, Manipur Rajkunja is a historic 16-bigha estate with deep ties to the royal family of Manipur. Granted by Raja Krishnachandra to the “patron saint” of Manipur, Maharaja Bhagya Chandra Singh, the Anumahaprabhu Mandir was built here in 1797. Today, it serves as a cultural bridge for visitors traveling from Manipur, Assam, and Bangladesh. Despite the challenges of time and land loss during the 1971 war, the local community remains fiercely protective of this sacred space, ensuring it stays a peaceful retreat for all.
MAJOR FESTIVALS
Don’t miss Yaoshang (Holi), which celebrates Mahaprabhu’s birth, or the solemn commemoration of the Maharaja’s death anniversary in September.
CULTURAL LEGACY
The site is a beautiful fusion of Manipuri artistry and Gaudiya Vaishnava traditions.
