Nrisingha Temple
Located at Nrisinghapally along the road to Krishnagar, this is one of the most ancient spots in the entire Nadia district. Its roots reach back to Puranic times—local legend says Lord Narasimha came to this very spot to wash His hands in a nearby pond after defeating the demon Hiranyakasipu. That pond is said to be a remnant of the celestial Mandakini River. Over the centuries, spiritual giants like Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Jiva Goswami frequently stopped here to pray, adding to its sacred “charge.” The temple we see today was largely restored in 1896 by the Nadia Raj family, preserving a site that has been a beacon of strength for ages.
RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE
Believed to date back to the Satya Yuga, it is the legendary site where Lord Narasimha cleansed Himself after His fierce battle.
