Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math (Jal Mandir)
Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math is a globally renowned sanctuary for spiritual seekers in Nabadwip Dham. Established in 1941 by Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, this math is a cornerstone of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, dedicated to the teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The premises of the Math is uniquely divided across two sides of the main road, offering a blend of profound devotion and serene natural beauty.
The Jal Mandir (Water Temple), the highlight of the complex is the stunning temple situated in the centre of a tranquil pond. While only priests cross by boat for daily rituals, visitors can enjoy the peaceful views, watching swans and colourful fish glide through the water.
In the Main Compound on the opposite side of the road, you will find the Gouranga Temple, where visitors can participate in soul-stirring kirtans (devotional singing) and religious discourses. This side also provides lodging facilities for pilgrims.
The Jal Mandir premise houses the Miniature Zoo which feature a Deer Park where you can hand-feed friendly deer (food is available at the gate). You’ll also encounter rabbits, guinea pigs, and geese amidst beautifully manicured flower gardens. The Shri Sadashiv Gangadhar Temple is located within the same compound of Jal Mandir.
A visit during the evening to witness a breathtaking sunset over the Jal Mandir pond of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math creates a perfect environment for meditation and photography. As the international headquarters for the society, the Math welcomes devotees from across the globe, especially during major festivals like Gaura Purnima.
