Ballal Dhipi: Echoes of an Empire
A short hop from the temples lies a massive grass-covered mound that feels like a mystery waiting to be solved. Excavated during 1982 – 1989, Ballal Dhipi is all that remains of a 12th-century royal complex. Walking through the ruins of these thick brick walls and unique cruciform structures, you can almost see the ghosts of the Sen Dynasty. Excavation has revealed a stupendous brick structure in an extensive yard. Covered on all sides by enclosure walls. Stucco heads, terracotta human and animal figurines, copper utensils and other objects, Iron nails, etc. have been found from excavation. It’s a fascinating, quiet contrast to the bustling spiritual energy of Mayapur nearby.
TRIVIA
