Mayapur
Sitting right where the Ganges and Jalangi rivers embrace, Mayapur feels less like a dot on a map and more like a different world. It serves as the heart of the ISKCON movement.
The skyline of Mayapur is dominated by the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP), a massive feat of modern engineering with one of the largest domes you’ll ever see. Inside, the atmosphere during kirtan is electric – it’s hard not to get swept up in the music and devotion.
If you’re looking for the town’s roots, head to Yoga Peeth. It’s a quiet, holy spot shaded by an ancient neem tree. Between the grand marble memorials, the peaceful cow sanctuary (Goshala), and sunset boat rides on the river, Mayapur has a way of slowing time down.
